This is 365 Days of Astronomy. Today we bring you a new episode in our Space Stories Series. We are always on the lookout for creative commons licensed and copyright free stories that we can share, and that we hope will get people thinking.

Today we bring you The Star by HG Wells. This is one of those times when all we can say is the story your about to hear, while based on the science of 1899, is nonetheless based on science, and the horrible possibilities it describes are very real possibilities, although winning the lotto is with a ticket you find on the side walk is also a real possibility. The thing is… you could win the lotto that way… and … well to say anything else would be to ruin the story.
