Description: Space debris is a growing threat to our communication satellites. The first step to mitigating the threat of satellites colliding with debris is to find and catalog the debris. In this podcast, Dr. Katie Kaleida describes a project to catalog space debris in geosynchronous orbits that could be a threat to our communication satellites.

Bio: Rob Sparks is a science education specialist in the Education and Public Outreach (EPO) group at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) and works on the Galileoscope project (www.galileoscope.org), providing design, dissemination and professional development. Dr. Katie Kaleida is a post-doctoral researcher at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Obervatory in La Serena, Chile
