Description: The exploration of space has not only has allowed us to discover and see farther in our Universe than humanity ever has, but its also given us a unique look back at our own world, and it changed our perceptions of it. Joining us today is author and philospher Frank White, who in 1987 wrote a book called “The Overview Effect,” which discussed a cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts and cosmonauts during spaceflight, often while viewing the Earth from orbit or from the lunar surface.
Bios: NLSI brings together leading lunar scientists from around the world to further NASA lunar science and exploration.
Frank White is the author of The Overview Effect: Space Exploration and Human Evolution, first published in 1987 and re-issued in 1998. A member of the Harvard College Class of 1966, Frank graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He attended Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship, earning an MPhil in 1969.
