Description: Astronomers have long recognized asteroid families that share similar orbits. More recent data suggests that family and non-family asteroids come from a surprisingly small number of parent bodies. In this podcast, Dr. Dan Li discusses current research on the parent bodies of asteroids.

Bio: Rob Sparks is a science education specialist in the Education and Public Outreach (EPO) group at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) and works on the Galileoscope project (www.galileoscope.org), providing design, dissemination and professional development. Dr. Dan Li is a project scientist for the WIYN telescope in Tucson, Arizona.
