Description: Awesome astronomy discussion, news and sky guide in April 2014
Bio: Awesome Astronomy is the show for anyone and everyone who has even the slightest interest in astronomy and science.
Join Ralph & Paul at the beginning of each month, for an informative and fun astronomy programme telling you what to look out (and up) for every month. You can be guaranteed a passion for astronomy, simple explanations of complex and fundamental topics, space and science news, absorbing interviews and listeners’ astronomy questions answered.
As both presenters have been accused of being a little skeptical in the past, you can also expect everything to be frivolous but fact-based

Transcript:
The Discussion: This month we briefly discuss the big astronomy discoveries from this month, we look back to National Astronomy Week.
The Audio Journal: Ralph & Paul headed out to the busy streets of London to show Jupiter and the craters of the moon to the public.
The News: In the news, we have a discussion with Jeni Millard and Sebastian Khan from Cardiff University about the discovery of gravitational waves; we discuss the auroral display that headed south and the ensuing scandals caused by the Daily Mail; we have a possible way of detecting dark matter and a theory that dark matter may have killed the dinosaurs; a new minor planet emerges beyond the orbit of Pluto and yet another minor planet is found to have its own ring system.
The 5 Minute Concept: In the 5 Minute Concept, Paul poetically explains the history and science behind that false dawn that plagued observers for centuries, the zodiacal light.
The Interview: This month, Ralph speaks with Dr Chris North, astrophysicist at Cardiff University and presenter of the BBC’s Sky at Night programme, about the detection of gravitational waves and what it means for wider cosmology.
Q&A: Listeners’ questions via email, Facebook & Twitter take us on a journey into the astronomy issues that have always plagued our understanding or stretched our credulity. This month Ralph & Paul answer:
- A question for you my tentacled friends, are Transient Lunar Phenomena real? If yes, what could they be. Many thanks. Lee Garner from Norwich in the UK, @cosmicbeack via twitter
- If popular Sci Fi films are to be believed then what happens at the event horizon of a mahoosive Black hole will appear to be frozen in time to us. So how can we hope to observe one eating up gas clouds? Lee Jalowiec in Berskshire, UK via Facebook
