Remember, the goal of the IYA is to bring astronomy to people who are otherwise not exposed to it. We all need to suggest this podcast to friends, family and co-workers even if they don’t know they like astronomy. You can help by suggesting an episode that you think they will like. Or burn them a CD.
There are other ways you can help us spread the word. Write a review on iTunes, invite friends on Facebook, blog about it, Twitter about it…evangelize!
None of us make any money or get famous if this podcast is successful. Our goal in promoting this is literally and solely to help people enjoy science and astronomy. We want to have as much impact as possible.
To date we’ve had 40,000 downloads of podcasts. We are number 52 in the iTunes category for Science. We are seeing more listeners every day and we are getting more contributors every day. It’s working! I personally think the quality of the shows has been excellent as well and I congratulate everyone participating.

I’m excited to check it out. But I have to say, I find it quite humorous how the first paragraph is truncated on the front page.
I see what you mean!
Also, I just checked and we are #8 in Natural Science in iTunes. I would love it if a bunch of people subscribed via iTunes and pushed us on to the front page! Hard to compete with Oprah and NPR…
Since Astronomy is such a visual science, I would have thought that each podcast would include pictures of that days subject matter. Is this possible?
I am true fan of 365 days of Asrtonomy podcast, all members of my family sit down and listen to the podcast and have a discussion about the topic.
I spread the word via LiveJournal, linked in my name. 🙂 Keep up the great work, IYA peeps!
I gave the podcast a plug in this week’s Backyard Astronomy article in The Piker Press.
