Title: The Man Who Beat Galileo

Podcaster: Allan Chapman

Description: Everyone knows that Galileo was the first to look at the heavens through a telescope – but everyone might just be wrong. Best known as Sir Walter Raleigh’s tutor, Thomas Harriot mapped the moon in 1609 just as Galileo did. In this podcast, we’ll look at who really got there first.

Bio: Allan Chapman is Britain’s foremost historian of astronomy, based at Wadham College in the University of Oxford. He is also a television presenter, and a spectacular public speaker much in demand from astronomical societies right across the UK and beyond.
