In roughly 48 hours the daily podcast will begin! Make sure you have subscribed. Look for the ever-present Subscribe! section to your left. You could also just set this site as your home page and listen on your computer every day. I think you know the drill.
Contributors — thank you for the excellent stuff! We are very pleased with the quality of what is coming in. Please — if you will not be submitting your audio 30 days in advance, we need you to email us or you risk being bumped.
Also, a note in regards to the 10-minute rule. It can be challenging to get an interview or in-depth piece down to 10 minutes. You gotta do it. I’ve edited 2 podcasts myself and in both cases I thought there was no way I could get it down to 10 minutes. In both cases I did and I think the result is quite pleasing. Remember — the listener doesn’t know what they are not hearing. You have to aim for 10 minutes or less. With that said, we will not be rejecting entries which go over by a modest amount. You should mention and we will link to an extended version if one exists.
We still need people to contribute podcasts. As you listen to some of the shows coming up, I really hope you get the urge to join in.
Well, I suppose we could just turn up the speed, and do lengthy interviews that sounded like The Chipmunks. Hmmm… 🙂
Good one, Davin!
I am working hard to hack my 23-minute piece down to 10, and I’m having fun with it. I just hope that, when people listen to the unnatural, choppy nature of the brutalized version of the podcast, they’ll all opt to go out and grab the unabridged version. Ten minutes is tough. But, one way or another, I’ll get it there. One of these days, I hope to get Michael to explain the actual reasons for the duration limitation. Have a great IYA 2009 everyone!
