Description: Astronomers have long wished to observe the formation of galaxy clusters to learn about the formation of structure in our universe. Recently a team discovered one of the most distant clusters of galaxies that they have dubbed a proto galaxy cluster. In this podcast, Dr. Arjun Dey discusses this proto galaxy cluster, how it was discovered and what it tells us about the history of the universe.

Bio: Rob Sparks is a science education specialist in the Education and Public Outreach (EPO) group at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) and works on the Galileoscope project (www.galileoscope.org), providing design, dissemination and professional development. He blogs at halfastro.wordpress.com.

Dr. Arjun Dey is an NOAO Project Scientist for BIGBOSS. He earned his PHD from the University of California-Berkeley. His research interests are galaxy evolution, high redshift galaxies and large scale structure.
