Carnival of Space #651
This week’s Carnival of Space is hosted by Allen Versfeld at his Urban Astronomer blog. Check out this week’s sampling of space-related stories from our colleagues and friends!
OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA) Update
Last night we got word that the OLA, or the laser altimeter on the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft didn’t work as planned during a recent dress rehearsal of a sampling approach to the Osprey sample site on Bennu. The biggest impact this has is the images are likely going to be out of focus because OLA’s distance measurements are used to tell the camera where to focus.
Carnival of Space #650
This week’s Carnival of Space is hosted by Brian Wang at NextBigFuture. Check out this week’s sampling of space-related stories from our colleagues and friends!
Carnival of Space #649
Welcome to the 649th Carnival of Space! The Carnival is a community of space science and astronomy writers and bloggers, who submit their best work each week for your benefit. We have a fantastic roundup today, so now, on to this week’s worth of stories!

New Fine Detail of the Sun
This week we received no less than 3 press releases announcing that the Inouye Telescope on Haleakala has begun to capture images of the Sun. This 4 meter telescope allows solar scientists to see fine details on the sun in never-before-seen resolution. In new images, we can see cell-like structures that are the size of Texas or France.
Sounds of the Solar Wind
The Johns Hopkins APL team, working with the Parker Solar Probe, have processed their data to reveal the pressure wave within the plasma within the Solar Winds.
No satellite collision

Another 60 Starlink satellites in orbit
Today, SpaceX Falcon 9 launched another 60 satellites into orbit at 2:06 PM UTC from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1222532797501296640 This was the third flight for the booster, which had a successful landing on...
ISRO creates a space robot
