CosmoQuest has a large presence at this year’s AGU in Washington, DC, from Dec 10-14, 2018. We have a number of posters and presentations by our team members. If you’re there, come by and check out what we’ve been doing!
First up, programmer Joseph “Big Jay” Myers will be presenting PA23C-04: Putting the focus on science: Astrometry and Photometry with Transient Tracker
When: Tuesday, 11 December 2018 13:50 – 13:53
Where: Walter E Washington Convention Center – eLightning Theater I
Description: CosmoQuest is moving from online citizen science to observational astronomy with the creation of Transient Tracker. This open source ImageJ plugin will be designed to identify asteroids and other transient/variable object within image sets. When complete, Transient Tracker’s features will include: astrometric and photometric solutions, identification of moving/transient objects, identification of variable objects, and light-curve analysis. In this poster we present our second set of functionality (v0.2 release) and seek community input. This plugin will add functionality to the existing NIH funded ImageJ libraries led and maintained by Wayne Rasband, and is released primarily under the MIT license. In this release, we are building on these libraries to add functionality to locate and perform basic photometry on point/point-like sources. Additional photometry and astrometry functionality will be added in upcoming releases. Our materials are released under the Apache 2.0 license on github at (https://github.com/CosmoQuestTeam/TransientTracker-PublicRelease) and documentation can be found at https://github.com/CosmoQuestTeam/TransientTracker-PublicRelease/blob/master/README.md
