Calling All Astronomers

Jul 24, 2014 | Uncategorized

Our friends at the Night Sky Network provide materials, education, and training for anyone who wants to get out in the field and do some outreach. They particularly work with amateur astronomy clubs across the United States.

I love amateur astronomers, even though I pretty much failed at being one myself when I was a kid. I lived in a very light polluted city and didn’t really know where to find other people like me. So when people ask me what they should get for their first telescope, I tell them to hold off and find an amateur astronomy club near them! There they can be introduced to the subject and the equipment by people who really know their stuff.

Well, Night Sky Network is looking for ways to continue to help astronomy clubs enjoy the night sky and share it with others. To do that, they need feedback! If you’d like to help, check out their survey at http://bit.ly/2014astrosurvey.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out the redesigned Night Sky Network, its list of clubs nationwide, and this month’s Featured Universe Discovery guide. Or you can see our Learning Space episode all about the project:
