Description: CosmoQuest.org is a website that combines opportunities for people to do science with content that allows people to learn science. Citizen science projects are powered by the opensource Citizen Science Builder (CSB) software. First launched in 2012 in PHP, this latest version is a major upgrade that moves the codebase into Python, allowing for more efficient inclusion of common astronomy software. In this presentation, we provide an overview of the current capacity of the software, and discuss how new projects can be effectively created. CSB is integrated with the popular Django platform which is used to power sites ranging from Portal to the Universe to Las Cumbres Observatory. It is also designed so that it can readily display citizen science projects on WordPress websites. This flexibility allows CSB to be integrated into many existing websites; as WordPress and Django power roughly 31% of internet sites. CSB is designed to allow easy creation of image classification and annotation projects, as well as related tutorials. Tutorials are interactive, providing both examples and feedback to participants. In addition to these features, CSB also has galleries for viewing classified images and a variety of social media linkages, including data sharing with SciStarter. In this presentation, we discuss how to initiate a citizen science project using CSB, and how to become hosted on the CosmoQuest platform.
