Hey folks, we know that you love citizen science! And while we at CosmoQuest are working on revamping our old projects and ramping up our new projects, we’d like to share some great opportunities for you to branch out your citizen science work!

Over at PLOS Blogs, they host a blog specifically for citizen science projects. Here are a couple of the great space-related projects that they suggest and link to over on Sci-starters.

First, the Target Asteroid project is a citizen science project which engages OSIRIS-REx team members to work with amateur astronomy groups to collect data on asteroid targets potential asteroid spacecraft targets.

Next, the Aurorasaurus project allows the public to enter their observations of relatively rare sightings of the Northern and Southern Lights in order to improve real-time tracking and understanding of the atmospheric phenomenon. Users report through their website and on a mobile application platform. Aurorasaurus also collects related tweets, maps them, and asks users to verify in order to better characterize their frequency, location, and rare visual characteristics.

There are more projects listed over their post on Citizen Science in SPAAAAAACCCCEEE!
