You know that we love crowdsourcing science efforts here at CosmoQuest. A little while ago, we let you know about a series of challenges to track near Earth asteroids open to anyone. Well, another challenge just wrapped up, Marathon Match. Competitors have been competing to build algorithms to track known Near Earth Objects (NEOs) given some parameters of a radio telescope array. You can find out more about it through Topcoder.
I certainly look forward to seeing what these “citizen coders” come up with! Check out a whole slew of projects that NASA is crowdsourcing in such a way, as well as a blog post from one excited participant.
