Moon Mappers needs your help right now! The results for the Apollo 15 region will be presented at a scientific conference in mid-July, but we need more craters for the complete dataset. Keep marking those craters, and you just may win a prize pack! We have these goodies for whoever marks the 400,000th crater in Moon Mappers. We’re currently at about 380,000, so join in.
Moon Mappers needs your help more than ever before. We’ll delve deeper into the science in an upcoming post, but for now, I’m going to appeal to your sense of, “Oh! Pretties!” After all, swag and stickers make life just that much more fun and colorful. So keep marking craters and you may win free stuff. It’s as simple as that. Oh, AND contribute to science and maybe even see some Apollo 15 equipment for yourself along the way.
We do need your help on Moon Mappers, both from our experienced crater-choosers and any new folks just joining up. I know, I know. Ice Investigators just came out and you are all over that Kuiper Belt like white on rice. But those high resolution photos around the Apollo 15 landing site still need a trained human eye (or several).
So get to it. Find all the craters. You know you want to.
UPDATE (6/26): I just found out that if you are the one to hit a multiple of 100,000, you can also get posters OR a beautiful handmade ceramic necklace by Surly Amy. I love her work!
