Attending DPS? So Are We! Come Science With Us!

CosmoQuest team members and partners are attending the Annual Astronomical Society Division for Planetary Sciences (DPS) Annual Meeting in Pasadena this week and presenting workshops. Here is what our team will be doing at DPS!

On Monday, Jake Noel-Starr (InsightSTEM) will be presenting the workshop “Impacting Broader Audiences with your Research” from 4:30 pm ‐ 7:30 pm in room C107 (Conference Building).

On Thursday, you can find several events highlighting CosmoQuest members and outreach. Sanlyn Buxner (University of Arizona) will be chairing the “Citizen and Student Engagement in Space Science: The Latest Educational Research and Future Studies” presentation session from 8:30 – 10 am in Ballroom F (Pasadena Convention Center). During this session, team members will be presenting:

  • Larry A. Lebofsky, Thea Canizo, Sanlyn Buxner, Bill Schmitt, Susan Runco, and Paige Graff will present “CosmoQuest: Engaging Students in Authentic Research through Science Fairs.”


  • During the “Capacity Building in Formal and Informal Education” Poster session from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM; Exhibit Hall A (Pasadena Convention Center), the following team members and partners will be presenting:

  • Engaging Scientists with the CosmoQuest Citizen Science Virtual Research Facility – Jennifer A. Grier; Pamela L. Gay; Sanlyn Buxner; Jacob Noel-Storr
  • Leadership Workshops for Adult Girl Scout Leaders – Larry A. Lebofsky; Donald McCarthy; Edna DeVore; Pamela Harman
  • CosmoQuest Collaborative: Galvanizing a Dynamic Professional Learning Network – Whitney Cobb; Georgia Bracey; Sanlyn Buxner; Pamela L. Gay; Jacob Noel-Storr
  • Effective Models for Scientists Engaging in Meaningful Education and Outreach – Jacob Noel-Storr
