Description: In honor of Women’s History Month, the podcast looks back through history at the contributions of women to the field of astronomy.  We begin in ancient Egypt, and describe the contributions of Hypatia and her tragic end.  We then move forward describing the efforts of women like Caroline Hershel discovering comets, Annie Cannon classifying stars and describe the PhD thesis of Celia Payne, which was voted the most significant of the20th Century by the American Astronomical Society.  While we note the struggles that women faced in trying to participate in astronomy, We end on a positive note, indicating the increasing role of women to astronomy and its value to increasing the talent pool for the science.
