Moon Bounce

Oct 29, 2015 | Uncategorized

Things have perhaps gotten a little quiet around here. While we know we will be receiving a grant from NASA, we’re not sure when we’ll receive it, and until then we’re continuing on skeleton funding (and skeleton staffing) to keep everything moving forward.

One of the things we’ve been working hard to keep going are our Google Hangouts on Air. On Tuesday we did a special HoA with the folks from International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) and from the OPTICKS art program. During this roughly 1 hour event, we broadcast radio transmissions containing a series of InOMN related images from transmitters in Brazil and Italy. This signals were bounced off the Moon, and then received using the Dwingeloo radio telescope in the Netherlands. This process was devised by artist Daniella de Paulis, and during the “bounce” off the Moon, the signal is altered in ways that are often beautiful.

Did you miss the Moon Bounce event when it was live? Catch it in the archive.

Check out all the moon bounced images over on the InOMN Website.
