Personal Statement

As a child I lived near the Tonantzintla (México) observatory. We had an awesome night sky and I used to spend many nights laying on my back looking through a pair of binoculars. In a quiet night the stars seem to sing and dance. Thinking about the staggering size of the universe all my problems just faded away. The night sky has always been a source of inspiration and comfort to me. I decided to study Physics to gain a better understanding of our universe and, altough I work now in solid state physics rather than astrophysics, I always take time to look at the stars and stand in complete wonder. "For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love." - Carl Sagan This quote has been in a piece of paper in my wallet for almost 10 years
