Okay, I just found out there is controversy brewing here about my film "Moon Rising" and the forensics guy I "hired" to investigate certain photos I downloaded from the Clementine 1.5 Image Browser (which has been removed). I don't have the time to seek out who is talking about me, accusing me, and trying to degrade my works 'behind my back' without approaching me first and telling me what's up before hand.

Jim Hoerricks and I did exchange some thoughts on a press release I made, which by all means NEVER insinuated he had stated certain words. I think Jim started getting heat from his peers or simply got paranoid by what I said pertaining to his examination of the photos I presented to him. I have ALL written exchanges with me and Jim, and they will be readily available here if allowed by the moderators.

I felt ripped off by Jim and his alleged forensics work which was truly bogus as far as what he sent me. This was amateur Photoshop work and the fee I paid this guy was a rip-off.

This is only the beginning Jim and JayUtah. We will discuss this "fully" on this forum.

Why the cautionary quotes? Did you engage him for his services and pay him? There was either a deal or there was not. Did you seek him out based on his reputation and voluntarily enter into a business relationship with him?

Sour grapes. You have sought to become a public figure by means of disseminating widely a series of controversial claims. It is inevitable that the public will talk about your claims in most cases without your knowledge or consent.

If you are here to defend your claims, then that is welcome and accepted. Please read the rules carefully, as you will be held to a higher standard that you are perhaps accustomed to. If you are here simply to complain that people criticize your work, then you won't be received very well.

Mr. Hoerricks claims unamibiguously that you attempted to misrepresent the work he did for you for hire. "Stating certain words" sounds like a hair-split to me.

Why don't you start by providing the full version of the report Mr. Hoerricks wrote for you? Once we have Mr. Hoerrick's confirmation that it fairly represents all the work he did for you, then we will be in a position to make up our own minds which of you two has most fairly represented his work.

Mr. Hoerricks is a noted expert in image analysis while you are not. I don't accept you as an expert on the quality of his work.

If you felt your money was not well spent with Mr. Hoerricks, why did you not ask for a refund? Why did you instead retain his name in connection with your film, but carefully present only portions of his work, so as to maintain the illusion that a noted expert has endorsed your findings?

On the one hand you tout him as a forensics expert when it can be made to appear that he agrees with you, but on the other hand you call his work "bogus" and "amateurish" when you are asked to account for your selective use of his expertise. Why the double standard?

It seems more parsimonious to me to believe that you sought him out based on his well-earned reputation as an expert in forensic analysis of digital photographs, hired him, tried to make it sound as if he endorsed your conclusions, then ran afoul of him when he objected to your use of his name; now you're trying to poison the well.

However, I believe our erstwhile friend has nothing to present, no evidence to give.

All of his arguments would have likely crumbled into ash and dust.

But who can know for sure? Perhaps he could have come up with something really original.

As long as he does not respond then we will never know what arguments he intended to present, if any.

Well thats the problem in a nutshell. The OP claimed he had evidence he was willing to present, yet there have been no further posts from the OP. So what is one to do, i ask? Allow the claim to go unchallenged?

I agree it seems a bit disingenuous to call out me and Jim Hoerricks rather ominously and then disappear. But we don't know the reason for Escamilla's absence and hence we can't pass good judgment on why it has occurred. I'm perfectly content to wait and let him present his best case. Jim can decide for himself whether to debate here. Yes, it would be nice if Escamilla had presented more substance up front, but we can't rightly fill that void with personal attacks and speculation.

If you're actually looking for an answer to that, I'd suggest just dropping it until he returns, if he does.

The claim has well and truly been challenged at this point. Hammering away will only muddy the waters.

Patience. And if you do wish to treat it adversarially you could always consider silence as an admission of defeat.

Since the only point Escamilla has actually raised seems to have been addressed as far as it can be, and the thread is already devolving, maybe it would be wise to lock it until Escamilla is able to return and pick it up.

Sorry for not responding. I had responded to another thread that was posted where JayUtah and Jim were posting their opinions. When I realized it had been closed I figured there was nothing else to do here. I didn't realize my introducing myself and saying what I did, had been created into a new thread. I am editing a new film right now and this is why I will have limited time. I didn't know this thread had become an active listing. I have an hour to answer things here. I hope I do this correctly.
