    Oops, maybe not.

  3. #183
That's weird. When I made the post, it showed up on the same page. But now it's on a different page.

It does that, up until you refresh the screen, one way or another.

Then it... cha cha cha changes!

  5. #185
    I see.

I thought I was in this humiliating situation, where I had proclaimed myself the winner, only to discover I was not, with someone else no doubt about to point out my non-winning status.

Oh my, that would have been shambolic!

As luck would have it you really did win the top o' the page comp (beware of Peteshimmon retribution - I hear he has a flesh eating bacteria he readily sets loose on those that smite him) but there's still the last post comp to settle.

I know. I didn't know how I would live with the shame.

I'm sorry for my delay in responding, I seem to have gotten myself involved with a bad crowd of Egyptian Trouble Merchants.

They say they're going to take my pet quokka if I don't help them build their pyramid.

I only Enter The Matrix in leap years.

  11. #191
Why do we call them "leap" years anyway?

Because they are used to leap forward that extra bit to account for missing time in our calendars, thus keeping the solar year in time with our calendars?

The true reason though, is because Angelina Jolie trademarked the Jolie Year.

  13. #193
But we don't leap forward. We leap backward.

Is February 29 a real day? Or is it a cruel hoax, perpetrated on an unknown and trusting population?

Yeah, but in the visual of the orbits there is a little gap in the full circumference which grows if you leave out the extra day, getting further behind the starting point each four years. The extra day gives time to complete the cycle. That's what I meant.

Or as Anne Frank would say, "Ssshhhhhh!"

I filled in a job application once stating that my birthday was the 30th of Feb 1901, it went completely unnoticed.

    Did you get the job?

Oh, and I presume the year was the wrong bit - if so, happy birthday for Monday last week!

    Hah.

This thread has me a little worried. I mean, what does it mean to win the return? Return to what? Should I warn my mom, just in case I win? And what was that bit earlier about custard and bottoms? Hm.

Oh goodness! That's it, slang, I don't want to win anymore.

I had always envisioned we were playing for a spare Return (enter) key, which we naturally need for being such prolific typists.

This changes everything. I think I'll just go sit in my tin can.
