    NOVA

I was just wondering if the BA or someone else has approached PBS about producing a program on the HB'er claims. I recall that a few years ago that NOVA did a program that disputed the assertion that the holocaust never occurred. I feel that it is disgusting that such a program was necessary, but it was very well done. Such a program about the moon hoax assertions would be invaluable since couch potatoes who saw the FOX program just might be willing to watch a PBS for a change. A TV show is probably the only way to reach many of the people who believe that the hoax is true.

I don't want to stereotype anyone, but I honestly can't imagine the kind of people who believe in the hoax ever watching PBS... It's still a good idea though, 'cause it would help people better combat the hoax believers. It would give them a show to refer them to. So, I like the idea.

As Jay and Phil have said before, there sights aren't for the hardcore fanatics, but those people who sit on the fence or have questions. It's to answer their questions before they and their money get sucked into a black hole.

Okay. But I was commenting on the subject of the thread - whether or not to do a PBS show.

I have no delusions that this type of program would convince the hard core HB'er that they are wrong ( I suspect that many of them know they are, but either they are irrational contrarians or they stand to lose a lot of money if they admit it). I am thinking of the couch potatoes who don't know how to critically evaluate these claims. Many of these folks feel that the jury is still out on the issue but aren't interested enough in the subject to learn more on their own. A TV program just might attract enough of them to put the HB'ers on the defensive and force them to answer the hard questions that they currently avoid. According to another thread, Bard Sibrel is doing a lecture tour. Wouldn't it be great if everywhere he went, someone in the audience would ask him questions like "Didn't you see the PBS show that explained that the flag waved because of damping, not wind?", or "Why didn't you talk about where NASA got the rocks from?", or "What about those mirrors that the astronauts placed?". A couple of questions like that at each lecture would do far more to convince the audience that they are listening to a woo-woo than anything else. The only downside on this would be that folks like Bart Sibrel (i think it is very appropriate that his initials are B.S.) would probably get increased sales on his line of hoax propaganda, but that may be the necessary price to pay to get the true side of the story out to the masses.

I think this would be a better reality show than any of the ones currently on: have an actual, live courtroom "trial" of the claim that human beings landed on the Moon with viewers phoning in their verdict. I can't imagine Sibrel, Kaysing, Rene, etc., coming across at all convincingly on camera, at least no compared with, say, a suitable selection of astronauts, geologists, and Project Apollo engineers.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.

I'm participating in television programs that are in various stages of production or release. Theoretically one should already have aired in the U.K. market.

I'm not so sure. The heart of their pitch is that the government is lying. The skewed science and engineering is just a way to give this idea legs. Lots of people are willing to buy the idea that the government lies all the time, even those who haven't given Apollo serious thought. A bunch of astronauts, scientists, engineers, etc., -- certainly anybody with a NASA patch or lapel pin -- just demonstrates to average folks that there are a lot more liers than they had realized.

I've not come across such a programme yet, but I don't have satellite or cable. It may have aired on either of those. What's the name of the prog?

Jay and I have both done shows like that. I just got asked the other day to do another one. Once I did one and it turned out to be pro-hoax. Sigh.

Are you talking about the PAX show? My take on that show that it made the pro-hoax people look silly. They hanged themselves with their own rope.

I was asked once, unfortunately it was Mary Morrelli doing the asking.

Me too. I haven't answered her yet; just too busy at the moment. But I did check out the production company and they've done some programs I've seen and greatly admire. So on that basis they're legit.

"The Truth about the Moon Landings". Go here
    http://www.zigzag.uk.com/ZIGZAG_2003.html
And scroll through "Programs" until you see Ollie in his space suit holding up the flag. Channel 5 was one of the funders, so I expect they'll air it first. Last I spoke to ZigZag, they were expecting it to air in late 2003. But we had plans to coordinate publicity, and I haven't heard from them. Maybe I'll see if they'll send me a DVD.

Was it "Die Akte Apollo" by Brunner/Wisnewski? If it makes you feel any better: the authors are not hired anymore by the tv station (WDR) they did that program for after they came up with a show about 9/11 that was even worse.

    Look here:
    http://home.t-online.de/home/willy.b...1Unsolved.html
    http://ourworld.compuserve.com/Homep...i/petition.htm
(the second link is something like "Evil government tv station imposed an employment ban on us freelancers! Sign the petition against this censorship!")

At least WDR isn't totally clueless. Even if it took a while to get there...
As far as I remember they cancelled all reruns.
