    Good question!

Normaly the naming rights to a new species belongs to the person that discoverd it. however when you have a team of people at nasa working on the images this may be a bit more complex.

I'am sure soon as it happens tons of woo-woo sites wil give the their own names.

    Heres my choices.
If its big and scarey "Giger"
If its small and scarey "nancy"
If its big and fluffy "BFG"
If it's small and fluffy "Mr.Bunny"

How about naming them after various Indian dishes. Vindaloovians, the Aloo Pakora, etc.

Didn't Lister fight a Vindaloovian on Red Dwarf?

I think the very first martian found should be called Marvin.

No, Lister and Cat pretended to be a Vindaloovian by pasting Kryton's eyes to their chins and showing a video image of their mouths and chins upsidedown.

What about the vindaloo creature that was created by the DNA sequencing machine that also turned Kryton human?

P.S if you are ever attacked by a vindaloo creature it can be killed by a can of larger.
