A Dead body in deep space...what happens?

    Hi all!

Imagine someone is in deep space (far away from any radiating source...say, extragalactic space). This person is healthy and completely naked and somehow magically teleported to this desolate and lonely location. What would happen to his or her body as he/she died? Would it be a quick death or slow and excruciating? After this unfortunate individual expired, what would happen to the body? Would it freeze? Would the insides have enough time to putrefy before freezing?

    Thanks,
    M74

    PS: Yes, a little morbid...

We seem to get this one a lot ...
Much about live people decompressing on this thread.
Quick loss of consciousness, in ten or twenty seconds, because oxygen is lost through your lungs to vacuum. Death in a minute or so, because gas bubbles form in the circulation and prevent the heart from pumping blood.
Subsequent evolution of the corpse was covered in this thread.
