Jesse Ventura's new tv show "Conspiracy Theory"

Premieres Tuesday, December 1 on TruTV

Suposedly it's goign to be a show about invatigation the truth/non truths behind conspiracy theories, but with thier choice of hosts, Jesse Ventura, it really makes me wonder.

My main question is, will he be tackling the moon hoax theories?

I saw and ad for the show last night (I'll admit it, for some unfathomable reason, I am hooked on "The Smoking Gun presents the Worlds Dumbest...") and they mentioned that the first show was to be about HAARP. There are enough wacky ideas floating around out there on HAARP ( Earthquake machine, Tsunami creation (the 2006 christmas tsunami to be specific), Obama using it to make tornados in conservative districts, some sort of beam weapon, it's melting the icecaps, etc, etc, etc. They could do a 24 hour special, just on the debunking. I have zero expectations for the show.
Ventura is claiming in the ads that because he was a navy SEAL and a governor (Minnesota) he somehow had (or has) access to the records and files about some big time government secrets. That is a load of shazbat, but the average viewer wouldn't know that, so the average viewer will probably think there is something to what he says.

From the previews I've viewed, it's not about finding truth, it's about Ventura's blind belief in any and all conspiracy theories.

If he does, it won't be to debunk them.

I'd be surprised if he calls the astronauts liars...I just can't imagine him being that ignorant.

Er... This guy was a "professional wrestler", right?

    Then a politician.

Does either of those professions make you want to believe him?

    YMMV

It was bad. Really really bad. I may, if i can get over my disgust, put up a review about it in the Media at large category.

Not to take away from his service to his nation, he can claim to have been a Navy SEAL all he wants, but he wasn't. There were no SEALs when he was in the Navy. He was a member of the UDT, Underwater Demoliton Team, a tough group, and an incredibly difficult and dangerous job. He claims that because that is where the SEALs came from, then he was a SEAL. Not really the same thing, different training, different missions. That is not to say that he couldn't have made the grade, but he wasn't a Navy SEAL.

I can't stand that egotistical bag of wind.

He puts other people down for their various flaws, as if he's so perfect.

That, coming from a man who used to wear boa feathers.

    I'm so not impressed.

Judgmental egotistical windbags are kind of popular. I think it's confidence that attracts.

I saw the one about global warming where he tried to convince us all it's a vast global conspiracy to make money and to form a one-world government.

Gee, there's a shock. Someone trying to make money out of global warming. Really? Ya think? I'd have been shocked if NO ONE was trying to make money out of it. Unfortunately, humans being what they are (especially powerful ones), no government is going to agree to anything without asking what's in it for me.

Regarding the one world goverment - nothing new there either. I think, for better or worse, at some point in the future (I would say the next 100 to 200 years or less) we'll have a single world government anyway. The fact they're trying to do it now is hardly surprising.

One thing that stuck in my mind was that the whole episode felt staged. For example, the interviews (mostly) sounded scripted. No one really broke up their sentences, paused for thought or said "er', "um" or "ah"

What actually irked me was something near the beginning of the show when Jesse is meeting with someone and is given a piece of paper - a tip off - about who to contact next. Like a Deep Throat thing. The problem is the way it was staged. Clearly the informant knew they were on camera but on all but one of the camera angles, it was filmed as though the informant didn't know he was being taped. They made it look as though as though the cameras were hidden. To me, that was just plain misleading.

Maybe the producers really believe what they are broadcasting. Maybe they don't and they're just exploiting people's fears and paranoia. I don't know. I just know that I honestly don't think it's balanced.
