    What are these clouds called?

    Looks like a sky full of altocumulus. Pretty common in my part of the world.

    But the sun is shining through. I thought you guys only saw the local star directly about twice a year.

    I call 'em "Monet clouds." Evidently those kinds of clouds were around at the turn of the last century (1900), like they are today.
