Amazon gave it a funny review:

Sometimes pop culture produces its best comedies by accident--witness the Hula-Hoop craze, roller disco, and now the alien abduction phenomenon. In this hilarious "exposé" David Jacobs reveals the secret agenda that compels aliens to abduct human men and women. Some of the best material is in his section on research methods, where he decries the use of hypnotism by other alien-abduction specialists, because it can produce false memories; he then goes on to explain that most of his data comes from hypnotically induced recollections. The stories he relates from the various abductees he has worked with are all titillatingly sexual, and Jacobs writes that this consistency proves not that people are prone to sexual fantasies, but that the aliens are using humans for their breeding program. Filled with delightful howlers of this sort, The Threat is a laugh riot from beginning to end. Toss out your Dave Barry books and move up to the real thing.

What's really sad are the customer reviews that actually praise the book and its insights.

Probably the same sad cases who thank Nancy every time she posts some new nonsense on GLP.

To be fair one of the reviews looks like it's doing that, but is actually saying it's a good insight into the thoughts of believers right now - rather than an accurate account of the world state-of-play.

still doesn't come close to the ultimate tin-foil hattery...

..from GLP - a thread a couple of weeks back based on the premise that:

the reason "they" banned lead paint is because "it blocks the signals"

That was a pip! I tried posting some sense about RF propagation, and noted that radios, TVs, and cell phones ALL work just fine in older houses with lead paint. It was largely ignored.

They all think they live in 1984, where the TVs watch the people. The thought that there aren't enough people in the government to watch any significant fraction of the population also falls on deaf ears on GLP. Many of them are convinced that the evil government, when not blowing up the WTC and spraying chemtrails, monitors ALL phone calls and that every keystroke on the net is captured to see see what people are saying! #-o #-o #-o #-o

The government doesn't watch everyone, just them.

I think we've just discovered the solution to our overcrowded prison system. Knock off the telemarketing, get the inmates spying on GLPers. Besides easing the workload for us highly-trained men and women in black, the mere thought of having to read more GLP posts would scare any prisoner straight.

The Constitution forbids "cruel and unusual punishement."

But we're secret shadow government disinfo agents. Every GLPer knows that the Constitution doesn't apply to us. And last time I checked, there were no cruel and unusual prohibitions in either Reptoid or Grey law.

I also liked the "Also Bought" list. All the usual suspects there. Any of you who want to read a really good "alien abduction" book should pick up a copy of Little Green Men by Chris Buckley. Hilarious.

Note to agent 4386172. This "Sammy" person needs to be bumped up to lvl 7 surveillance. He's getting far to close to the truth. I think he is due for a Nibiruan memory wipe to be followed by a type 3 Zeta penatration exam! 8-[
