    e-mail slower than snail mail?

It does happen once in a while, something gets stuck in a server, but doesn't get sent through for...years.

I just got an e-mail from an outdoors company regarding my order which is about to ship. What order I wonder? Well, reading more, I saw the shipping date was July 21, 2007!!!! Ok....I think I know what it was now. They sent me a confirmation e-mail, and today (well, 10 hours ago according to gmail) it got here.

The confirmation was dated 21/07/07 and the mail was sent 22/09/09. Sounds like someone typo-ed the entry into the database.

Hmmm... Well, here last week I got a mail a couple of days late, according to the header it was sent on the morning of the 16th, but I got it in the afternoon of the 18th. But your experience seems a bit extreme... Unless someone accidentaly put the send date forward to 21.09.2009(hmmm, that is two 7s replaced by 9s), you were probably lucky to even get it, e-mail sometimes just disappear, you know, but for a server to have it laying for years for no reason seems strange...

Of course, stuff like that happens with hard mail too, sometimes stuff that has been forgotten is found a long time later, and is then sent on...
