    Smile Words from a word.

I like playing this little game during bits of free time. An example:

    Time

    Mite
    Met
    I'm
    Me
    It
    E.M.T. (emergency medical technician)

    ***

Big or small word: Post 1 word and what other words you can "get" from it.
I'll tell you in the next life, when we are both cats.

Last year, some time...we had an anagram game here...nobody got / bothered with mine...my question...so it eroded and passed out into the BAUT 'archives' .

Hey 'cup Vader...there's another word game, akin to yours, in the newspapers.

One has nine letters and one of them would be the main one. This letter needs to be included in all the possible words made with the given nine letters. There are restrictions, in that, the minimum number of letters varies...three/four...

I'll go see if I can find one now...

    edit:

Okay, here's one. These letters are in no particular order. Eight letters (not nine).

L A C A T R I G. The bold letter is to be used in all four- or more- lettered words. There is at least one word of eight letters.
    Proper nouns not allowed.

    'cup...sorry, hijack not intendid!

Hi Mahesh: Thank you, but unfortunately this sort of word game is about the only one I play.

    That's nice cereal...'cupVader.

j/g...that looks about right...though I didn't check/follow up...next day. they usually grade the number of words extracted. Excellent being umpteen hundred words or something.

Buttercup, you like things English, don't you? From the Royalty, ...down.

I don't know if you know about this, or there may be an 'American' version of this game. It's played by two contestants, on television. Everyday for half an hour on Channel 4, here. It's been going on since early 1980s. Called Countdown. Almost an English, I should say, a British, institution.

One gets thirty seconds to make a word of as many letters as possible from a random call of nine letters. Another part, is a seemingly simple 'arithmetic' 30-seconds-foray. This uses a random selection of six high/low numbers, which one uses with the simple functions to arrive at a designated random answer.

And unsurprisingly, a very popular programme / game. Some people have made careers / celebrity out of it.

Well, I didn't realise, but last Saturday, while I was derailing your OP, I came across a site through Google to play exactly like one does on television, including the clock, ticking away.

    edit:
    So indulgent.

    If you'd like a link...pm me...
I feel hesitant to link it here directly, for fear of flouting house rules.

    edit edit:
Oh I forgot to mention...the nine letters are selected by the players...combination of vowels/consonants.
