What the hell is this?
The Onion is a humorous magazine that features spoof (and otherwise unreal) news.

ThanksThis is also what I thought, but it looked so serious that initially I was shocked.
That's the joke. The whole article is about stuff we laugh about here, supposedly taken seriously by Armstrong over his own experience. For instance:
According to Armstrong, he was forced to reconsider every single detail of the monumental journey after watching a few persuasive YouTube videos, and reading several blog posts on conspiracy theorist Ralph Coleman's website[snip]![]()
I say there is an invisible elf in my backyard. How do you prove that I am wrong?
The Leif Ericson Cruiser
They have a special take on gravity too. Extra funny if you know a bit about the Intelligent Design pseudoscience controversy.

Maybe that's what I've been missing when I argue with these people - not enough bolding and CAPITAL LETTERS!!!Amstrong was swayed by OmissionControl's use of bolding and capital letters to highlight NASA's many blatant fallacies.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.
What has not been mentioned yet is that it was LANCE Armstrong who was convinced of the Hoax.![]()
ToSeeked. That's okay, though; I think this article needs its own thread. I've started one over at JREF.
The only problem with the Onion is that it often makes more sense than the real news.
Haha, here's my favorite line:
I can see it now:Despite having spent thousands of hours training for the historic mission under the guidance of the world's top scientists, technicians, and pilots, Armstrong said he knew the conspiracy theories were true after learning that website author Coleman was "quite the engineering buff."
JayUtah: What qualifications do you have to support your argument?!! (You know, 'caus Jay often uses a multi-punctuation'al approach)
Conspiracist: Well, I'm *quite* the engineering buff!
JayUtah: Oh. Oh . . . well, then. Hmm. You got me there. Carry on.
The Onion is satire.
No real newspaper would print space-related news as frequently as they do.
I liked the article Mars Rover Beginning To Hate Mars.
The only problem with the Onion is that it often makes more sense than the real news.
That's because fiction has to make sense to be believable.
Yes, I liked the bit about the part-time librarian trumping all the engineers that worked on Apollo. Ralph Coleman says it was impossible, so it was imposible!
I half wonder if the author of the Onion article had lurked here or at ApolloHoax. Of course, that isn't actually necessary - the style and claims are common enough - but it just felt so much like the stuff I see here.

Something is wrong with this article. The browser isn't casting any shadow on my desktop.

Anybody else notice that the conspiracist's name is Ralph (Ralph Rene, anyone?) and that he's a librarian's assistant (like Bill Kaysing)?
The Onion must have done their research on this one.![]()
He's been researching the subject on the Internet for years.
The whole article is made from pure concentrated win!
He has Cole Slaw for brains?Still trying to figure out if "Coleman" is a play on anything.
They may have convinced Armstrong but did they convince JayUtah.
It's real. The thing about the LM is that it's bigger on the inside, though. How could they have kept this secret for so long?
Its amazing. Already there are dozens of Google links to various web sites which have picked up this Onion spoof and are presenting it as fact.
