Bad Childbirth on Eureka
Okay, Graham says he doesn't want to hear it, so you guys get to. He said, "willing suspension of disbelief," and I said, "woman!"
One of the characters had her baby on tonight's clip show. Now, I am used to childbirth's not being shown in any kind of realistic way. It's more surprising when it's realistic. (Oddly, one of the best is the Quantum Leap where he Leaps into a sixteen-year-old girl.) But this was just ridiculous. First off, the whole thing lasted, in their time, about forty-five minutes. Now, I knew someone once who'd had labour that short, and we all hated her. I know few of you guys are mothers, but I'm sure even those of you who aren't parents at all know how rare that was.
She didn't break a sweat. There was no dealing with, well, breaking water. The baby came out dry! Does this sort of thing bother anyone else?
"Now everyone was giving her that kind of look UFOlogists get when they suddenly say, 'Hey, if you shade your eyes you can see it is just a flock of geese after all.'"
"You can't erase icing."
"I can't believe it doesn't work! I found it on the internet, man!"
