Oh me oh my! Spoon Pie! EEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I had never tried, nor heard of Spoon Pie, but I am glad I did. It took me a long time to reply, not because I was sleeping, but because I was busily crafting a facebook group for the cause - "I like Spoon Pie and Penny Farthings".

Thank you for opening my eyes. I guess that answers the name question. No, it's a tilted homage to Sonny Spoon, the detective, and more recently, Robert Downey Jr, the recovered stealth-goth.

I had cheese cake last night.

I realized it is actually pie. I don't know why they call it cake.

It was the really expensive kind, delivered by a friend. She thinks I like cheese, but I don't. I mean, if I liked cheese, there would be a topic called "Cheese!" and discussions would revolve around .... well, cheese.

I am so tired and sore. Pie didn't even cheer me up. I can hardly type. I can't wait for spring. I will celebrate with pie. Lots of pie.

    Until then ...

So is everyone okay? I heard disturbing news from The Onion Radio News, that a pie hole was shut....and not in very nice terms!

The crazy thing is that it'd be the talk of the town if the pie hole were open in order to talk, but then there would be nothing to report so it could shut, but then there'd be something to report, but nobody could due to it being shut.

    I'm going to bed.

    There will be pie.

    Don't tease - what sort????

Last week, I tried an experimental pie. Creamy prawns/garlic/vegetables in flaky pastry... (Experiment based on fact that I was passing the fish counter at the local supermarket and there was a container of prawns on special. I don't normally get tempted by near-use-by-date seafood, but it was only pie for one, so what the heck..)

Experiment pretty successful. Gooood pie, and no after effects!

Not quite great, tho', so I will change the vegetable mixture next time..

Thanks to multiple sources from a Google search (and if it's on the internet, it can't possibly be wrong ) it looks like the credit goes to the Egyptians in 9500 B.C. This source had the most detail.

My favorite sections from various sources included descriptions of 'animated pies'

Animated pies or pyes were the most popular banquet entertainment. The nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence . . . four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie," refers to such a pie. According to the rhyme, "When the pie was opened, the birds began to sing. Wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the King." In all likelihood, those birds not only sang, but flew briskly out at the assembled guests. Rabbits, frogs, turtles, other small animals, and even small people (dwarfs) were also set into pies, either alone or with birds, to be released when the crust was cut. The dwarf would emerge and walk down the length of the table, reciting poetry, sketching the guests, or doing tricks.

The ultimate section is right at the start!

The purpose of a pastry shell was mainly to serve as a baking dish, storage container, and serving vessel, and these are often too hard to actually eat. For hundreds of years, it was the only form of baking container used, meaning everything was a pie.

    everything was a pie!!!

I sense a new tagline there.

Yes, even in business. I know that when I'm trying to explain data, it is rarely challenged when it's in the form of pie!

I'd like to thank the members of the Academy, my family who first introduced me to pie and my fellow BAUTers who have helped me to learn about (and delight in) pie in all it's many forms.

I'll only go to the award afterparties that are serving pie!

Pro tip: flip a partially eaten pie upside down and you've got... a hat!

Why thanks GG!! nice to see someone took my very serious and important question very serious indeed.

Although spoon's pro tip is just smashing!

Could one consider flan a pie?

    That's a resounding MAYBE! I mean, YES!

So if you can consider everything pie, then we can consider mince as pie, making a mince pie, well, pie squared.

    Most soitenly, gnugh gnugh gnugh!

There's a whole website dedicated to it, and as we all know, anything with a website dedicated to it must be real. Alien Bigfoot Polevaulter told me so!

This seemed rather humorous on the square pie site:

It was good to see Kate Moss enjoying one of our pies at Selfridges recently.

Just goes to show a good pie doesn't do anyone any harm every now and then! And it was a Spinach and Feta, if you're wondering...

Yeah, because Miss Moss is known to be a real health junkie. Err, health? Yes, health.

I would strongly support your plan jokergirl. I wish I could cook something like that.

2 problems: I'm a pretty poor cook (wouldn't stop me trying though, and also we have to keep the house immaculate for rental home open inspections.
