    Jupiter-July17th, 2009

Well finally the dust blanket from the Sahara has lifted somewhat and some turbulance is present but was able to image the grand planet with better results. Oval ba coming into view and on the north (bottom) the tiny red spot still evident and pronounced. Clear Skies to All.

Weather has been so bad here I'm yet to see Jupiter since it has moved into the midnight sky from too early in the morning. Maybe I'll see it before it is lost in the sun's glare. Weather has been horrid the past few months. Nothing but clouds and more clouds. But I still have plenty from last winter to process and no time to do it.

Keep the images coming, its the only way I can see it this year.

Thanks Rick, The weather here is the same alot has changed in the last three years. But i will keep on monitoring jupiter and next year it will be higher and in our favour for the next couple of yrs.

Note: (Anthony Wesley from Australia caught a possible impact in the southen most region near the polar region-He is still investigating this black spot that showed up in less then 12hrs.)

Well I've looked at Jupiter many times and never seen the Red Spot. Is it that hard to get?

Hi Glom, On this image the Great Red Spot (GRS) is not visible. but the Oval Ba is, its not red but pale pink salmon color at 1 O'clock position. Now the Tiny red spot (mentioned) is at the bottom of the image and its very small. Since Jupiter rotates in less then 10hrs The GRS will be visible the following night the 18th. Clear Skies my friend.

Now for the impact spot! I'm still under clouds here. Raining in fact.
