Is "Twilight Zone" too old to spoil? In a memorable episode, a woman is so hideous that she has no social life at all. Doctors figure out a way to give her a new face. For some reason the opening credits don't give the name of the actress, and all through the episode you don't see anyone's face. Finally the operation is over and the doctors unwrap her face, anxious to see the results. "OMG!", they all say, "A complete failure!" The patient jumps up in despair and runs toward the camera, and she's beautiful! All the doctors and others have ghastly white pig-faces.

I remember that one. We need a word for twist-endings that are so, so ununexpected that we watch just to see if they really are going to go for something so howlingly obvious.

I remember watching the second Pirates of the Carribean, thinking, the only good thing about this comedy of misfires is that they haven't brought back Barbossa from the first film. At least they've got that much self respect.

In the movie! In the book, IIRC, the bridge is only damaged and the train doesn't fall in.

When that TZ episode first ran (I have memories of watching as a little kid), and for many years thereafter, it bore the title "Eye of the Beholder."

Sometime in the 1990s, a new syndication package was out together, and longtime fans were startled to see the title (shown on the closing credits) now given as "Private World of Darkness."

Now, surely, the earlier title is more poetic, but it is a bit of a spoiler, isn't it? I wonder if that was the reason for the change?
