NASA Moon images ..Where are the new Images at

How come NASA never have sent any Digital Imagery to get some really good Images of the moon ?

    Its 2009 ...not 1950

They have ways to take High Def Images .

And yet they have old remakes with digital copies or prints

Where is the tax payer money at ? I would hope new Images would be the rule of the future and not just old remakes .

Basically there's a limit to taxpayer money.

Decisions have to be made on where that money is spent.

For example, the two rovers now on Mars are doing a great job; would it have been better not to send them, just to get better pictures of the Moon?

Just wait, better pictures are coming.

Yes, better pictures are coming, very, very soon.

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, set to launch June, will map the surface of the moon with resolution to half a meter.

(it used to have a 'special' feature if you zoomed all the way in, but I don't see that anymore)

Why would you think that the current moon probes arent digital? Heck if you are going to get really technical, I doubt there has been an analog system on a probe for more than 30 years

Didn't Japan's orbiter, Kaguya, take high-def images of the moon? I know that there was the highly advertised high-def shot of earth taken from the moon, but i didn't hear about any other images since then.

Looking at their website, http://www.jaxa.jp/index_e.html, I can find the wide angle high-def shots and images created from the laser altimeter data, but no close up high def imagery.
