So close yet so far, I live just on just the otherside of the Maine border, but I have no passport to go down to see you.

Since when has one needed a passport to cross the U.S-Canacian border?

  3. #93
Last year they started requiring a passport to enter the US. I won't go into in detail but it is basically from 9/11.

    Leaving tomorrow at noon.
I am hoping for a chance to meet some other bautians besides chrissy (and samiiee) with whom I'll be staying.

Any chance of visiting Birmingham or the Midlands? Could treat you to one of our Birmingham specialities, a balti curry!!

Well, I've finally met my first fellow Bauter. If you can call Gillian a "fellow". I visited her today the Ren Faire. Would have stayed longer but it was TOO DANG HOT. We Washingtonians are not used to this. I will have to do the Faire again sometime when it's cooler!

Thanks, Gillian, for the tour and especially for the shade. It was great to finally meet you!

Oh, and I forgot to take the good camera and the old one I keep in my truck was out of batteries. Story of my life.

Well, I haven't gotten the pictures in yet, but I suspect we're all still recovering. Poor Heather has to work today, but not until two, so she'll still be asleep now, like as not. We had fun despite the heat, though the amount of fun I had did kind of decrease as the weekend went on and the temperature didn't go down. They say we'll be under trees next year, but they said we would be this year.

My wife and I just had lunch with mike alexander at a lovely old hotel in his home town. It was great meeting him in person.

We had a great time. Swift even brought me Cleveland Memorabilia (an Indians cap and a bottle of Bertman Ballpark Mustard). Hopefully they will be able to visit a few of the local vinyards (of which there are several dozen). Again, my thanks!

So Swift's in Oregon? I somehow read his post the other way around. Enjoy the trip, Swift. I'll be back out that way in about a month, and I'm looking forward to it.

I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch today with sts60, who happened to be in town for a visit. It was a pleasure to meet a nice guy for interesting conversation. I just hope I held up my end of it. [insert appropriate smilie here]

Now that I've resurrected a somewhat quiet thread, I see that a change of title is probably in order. Rather than just up and change it on my own, I'll throw out my suggestion for comment or counter-proposals:

I'd say leave the the aBAUT, it's ... heritage. 'Out & aBAUT: Meet members on your Quests through the Cosmos"?

On that note.. I'll be in Waterloo, London, England, 10 and 11th September, flying back on the 12th. And a few days in Bruxelles, Belgium in October.
