    Another one from Emperor Kenton

Proxima Centauri!!! And the Planet X puzzle is SOLVED. (oooo...watch em come out of the woodwork now...! )
Oh, here is a link if you want to figure it out for yourself. (I did the math: 1 LY=5,865,696,000,000 miles x 4.2 =24,635,923,200,000 miles away; 16,000 miles per second = 504,576,000,000 miles per year that our sun and Proxima Centauri are traveling towards each other, which means that from the point that the calculation was made they should reach each other in 48.25 years.

Our friend Emperor Kenton is pushing this around over GLP. I think this is false, but I would need a link to a valid astronomy site or the words of an astronomer stating otherwise.

No need for an astronomer - the mistake was trivial (miles instead of meters). I have posted a reply stating this to GLP.

Considering Kent's responses, he has a lot in common with Nancy! (Dodging the subject, personal attacks, no knowledge of astronomy, etc.

I have blasted Kenton multiple times in that thread, and it is also being discussed on the BABB too.

Emperor Kenton's Admirable Resistance to Mere Facts

BadAstro and others demolished the entire premise of Kenton's thread early on, when it was revealed that neither Kenton nor the original poster knew the difference bewteen miles and meters.

Amazingly, though, that hardly even slowed the discussion.

A little thing like a 'fact' is generally ignored and often scorned on Certain Other Boards named GLP.

Well Kenton and his followers refused to even consider he was wrong which was to be expected, a woo-woo never accepts he/she is wrong. Hopefully the fence sitters got some food for thought.

    Phil!

After that I think Kenton will be off GLP for another month.

And thanks for the lots of information provided (I didn't know that about the camera on the landing gear of the lunar module) and some fun with Kenton.

What did he mean by approaching from the south. I wasn't aware that space was divided up based on the earth's magnetic poles.

Edit: Forgot the s on poles

    tuffel...depends.

lol before or after the pole flip?

Plus if it is nibiru it HAS to be the south. Gotta fit the mold of the Zetans. Even if it due in 48-80,000 years. Either way........it "proves" NL is right.

    Bah!

Oh dear, what's he done now? Fed chocolate to his toy crocodile again? Tipped Duplo bricks all over the floor?

Our four year old son is called Kenton.

I haven't heard of this Kenton. But from the comments here I think I don't want to know much more about him!

    Well...sortakindamaybe...

The celestial equator divides our sky into two parts, for location purposes. Stars above the celestial equator have positive declination, stars below the celestial equator have negative declination. It's the stars' version of latitude.

But what defines the celestial equator?

The fuller explanation is here. Short blurb from the explanation, by HRMWOTAS: "...the Equinoxes are defined as the two points on the sky where the path of the Earth around the Sun (the ecliptic) intersects the projected equator of the Earth on the sky (the Celestial Equator or CE)..."
The celestial equator is a projection of Earth's equator, which is established by the positions of the rotation poles (not the magnetic poles) of the Earth.

It's all imaginary, established by and adhered to by gentleman's agreement, but it's worked quite nicely for lo these many centuries since man found it necessary to map the heavens.
