Pale Blue dot up there is ME !

    Hi
A opportunity to adopt a star up there !!!
    Sounds terrific isn't it

Well got this from skyandtelescope. I adopted the star(KIC 8228742) i think in constellation of Cygnus (Not sure). Its magnitude is 9.47.

More about this star is up here

We propose to observe 80 Hipparcos K giants to study solar-like oscillations. Of these stars, 65 have good parallaxes (5-20%). Kepler is going to observe many red giants but will not be able to measure parallaxes for any of them (unsaturated K giants will have parallaxes well below 1 mas). It therefore makes sense to include the sample of K giants that have good Hipparcos parallaxes. The remaining 15 stars in our target list have been the subject of ground-based studies to determine their parameters. According to KIC10, most of them are metal-poor. Including these 80 stars in the list of K giants to be observed by Kepler should allow us to increase scientific returns from the asteroseismology program.
Problem is I did not understood this !!
Its type K but what Hipparcos means ? Does my star have good parallex?
    Un saturated K giant?? Ok

Bottom line pray so that they found Earth like planet around KIC 8228742
