First Light - Moon in 125mm Celestron

Very first shot; I haven't even gotten a camera adapter yet, this was a cheap digital camera hand-held up to the eyepiece. Not a bad scope for the money tho (and mine was a Christmas present). It's a start....

Mediocre sky, lots of humidity and high wispy clouds.

125mm Celestron, stock 32mm eyepiece on an undriven home-made German pipe mount.

    hi JAF....
That's simply a great photo...hand-held, undriven, home-made adapter etc etc...you've done very well. bright first light.

125 mm is good. i've got a ninety mill. meade etx that's pretty good hunting the skies.

As you may know, Paul Campbell a regular Bautzen, makes great composition with his 125 mill. similar to yours eh! ok diff make but similar strength...you can see his handiworks...all over, nice!

all the power to you JAF...keep it up and look forward to some more from you.

best regards and a happy new year...

    Two More Lunar Perigee Shots....

Here's 2 more shots from the Jan. 10th lunar perigee.

Same setup, still holding the digital camera up to the eyepiece.

Can't wait to get a proper camera adapter now....

Bah, a bit of Gaffa tape will do the job - don't need no fancy adaptor

That's true..... and I'm not above 'quick and dirty' engineering!

But I do have a spare Pentax K-1000 35mm camera in the closet from my son's photography classes so I may as well use it with a T-adapter. I bought the Celestron so that I can also try my hand at some wildlife photography too.
