Quite a nice day, 83°, a few fair weather clouds, a little drier and with a light breeze. Superb.

I agree...looking across to my neighbors house, less than 100 feet, and it's very hazy.
Though we'd had it with that one...couldn't leave or return...I was "stranded" here, while my Wife had to spend the night in Chico. It's still not as bad as it was in the summer of 2008, though.
We were never in an official evacuation zone, either. That almost made it worse -- it felt like we were trapped. I couldn't get to Chico to work and didn't want to go anyway for fear I wouldn't be let back in and the family would have to evacuate without me. I must say, though, I've never done so much yard work as I did during that summer especially after finding the burnt pine cone in the yard!
So many bugs, so little time.
I failed to mention...my Wife had our only car, so I really felt "trapped".
Ouch...I must say, though, I've never done so much yard work as I did during that summer especially after finding the burnt pine cone in the yard!
I do think that local government didn't take it that seriously...there are 13,000+ people in this area, who rely on one exit.
....and when that exit is cut off, well, "things" could turn out really bad.
But on the bright side, I've lived in the area now for over 10 years, and enjoy "being in the outdoors". (Tall Tree Smilee)
It sure "beats" El Cajon.
Um, yikes! I think you win.
I agree. Have you been up the Skyway lately? Pretty soon, it will be paved all the way to Butte Meadows. My truck is falling apart, but it will still handle most of the gravel roads off the Ridge.
Oh, um, current weather -- right, sorry about that. In Chico -- clear skies overhead and no trace of smoke at the moment. Warming up, though.
So many bugs, so little time.
The prospect of trying to outrun a fire on foot doesn't sound like "winning" to me. (smillee hotfoot)
Not too much past where I am...(off Ponderosa). So it is being paved? Good to know.Have you been up the Skyway lately? Pretty soon, it will be paved all the way to Butte Meadows.
Yes....the smoke does seem to be clearing as the day progresses....no trace of smoke at the moment.
Oh, wonderful. Local weather is forcasting smoke in the mornings all week long.
Along with a temperature rise into "triple digits", and it's going to be a Long week.
It is rainy with thunder and lightning.
40 miles from Chico to the peaks on the other side of the valley. That sounds about right. It always seems farther because of the time it takes to drive over there. This was the first morning in awhile where I could see the coastal mountains on my drive down to Chico. Clear blue skies here now, and heating up. I can see the smoke in the east even from downtown, though.
So many bugs, so little time.
Thunderstorms 3 nights in a row, with little rain accumilation.

Sunny and 80 with a few clouds. Beats the sunny and in the 90s we've been having all too often around here.
Finally got enough rain to leave the ground wet, but it comes too little and too late to save the local corn crops, or the lawn.

Hot.... 88° , humid with the promise of an afternoon shower/T-storm. Wind 5 to 10 w gusts.
Risky for green fees. Hmmm.....
VERY hot (by our standards). We had a couple days in the low 90's a couple weeks ago - first time since Aug. 2010. Today and tomorrow we're forecasted to get into the mid 90's - at or near record temps for the date. Poor air quality warnings are going out, it's pretty hazy as well. I'm not gonna complain thought, it's even hotter 80 mi to the east where hundreds of people are fighting the Taylor Bridge fire - 22,000 acres burned so far, dozens of home destroyed, only 25% contained. At least the high winds are dying down over there.
We've chosen this week to leave that area and go where it's hotter -- first Boise and now central Oregon. We saw 105F on the car thermometer around Pendleton on Monday. Fortunately the Taylor Bridge fire had not really gotten going when we passed through that area. We'll be going back through Portland and up I-5.
Incidentally, we drove across Eastern OR yesterday from Baker City to Prineville using OR-7 and US-26. Awesome drive! The US-26 portion is highly recommended for geology buffs.
Cum catapultae proscriptae erunt tum soli proscript catapultas habebunt.
This is interesting; it's so hot that we have a drawbridge that has to be hosed down or it may not function...http://www.seattlepi.com/local/trans...se-3796268.php
Hot here in south Texas, but not nearly as bad as last summer. The real problem is that it doesn't cool off at night; 90 at midnight. Ugh!
It's been beautiful weather this past week, no more heat wave. It'll actually get a bit cold tonight. Some world-famous "folk-rock" band from the across the pond is going to be stopping-over in the area apparently. Sounds cool but I just found out about it, so tickets aren't available. Oh well, there's always youtube.
Et tu BAUT? Quantum mutatus ab illo.
Perfect! Morning clouds, 70 in the afternoon! Ideal for this northwest boy.
Still way too hot. Yeah, it's August, but this is supposed to be Colorado, land of the fun summers and cool winters.
Today it felt like an average summer day in Florida, minus the humidity, of course.
8 inches of rain so far
Yep, Gig just emptied the rain gauge again, and here comes more torrential rain. We are in a band of pure nastiness, tornadic activity, lighting... wind... oh my! I've put on my ruby reds.
