Woot! just got a storm and .75" of rain.
Incidentally, there was a downburst last night directly over ORD that generated 70mph gusts. Good thing they saw it and warned the airport. It knocked out power and may have collapsed an aircraft hangar wall.

We got just enough rain to make it humid. Now it's blazing sun again. : (

Exceedingly hot yesterday (low 80's F -- this IS the Puget Sound country we're talking about) but all grayed over and cool this morning. That's better. It looks like like the kind of cover that may burn off by later afternoon.

Hot and muggy which is unusual for here.
We've been getting rain by the bucket loads which is also unsual, now it's cooking again.
Better today. I'm tired of days in the 90s. This is supposed to be Colorado! Not Florida.
Yet another storm full of sound and fury and signifying nothing. The rain barely reached the ground, hung around for a few minutes, and then evaporated.

Unusually warm and wet. We're into our third round of very heavy rains, complete with warnings of flash floodings.
I've already received two reverse-911 calls warning me of flash flooding in my area, and a quick peek at the creek out back, which is normally dry, reveals it's overstepped its banks.
That's quite a ways down, though, about thirty feet. The flow rate would have to be more than twenty times its current amount for me to experience flooding.
Absolutely lovely, for western WA. ~75 & sunny, with couldy mornings. Perfect for me.

...and the weather today on planet Krypton...
Seriously, the Sun is red...smoke from a "nearby" fire has made it's way here. No danger, just lots of smoke.
Wow. He'd better never move to my area. We're often 105 F this time of year.
My sister still lives in upper Midwest (near our hometown). She -- a native to cold weather and still living there -- once said, "I don't understand people (here). It's cold in the winter, and in the summer they want it cold too." She and husband don't have air conditioning, so she's no hypocrite in this regard.

It's all what you're used to...I grew up in E Wa, where temps in the 90's are not at all unusual, and people deal with them fine. Over on the W. side of the state, 90 is rare. Case in point: It's forecast to hit 90 this weekend, first time since August of 2010. That's a bona fide heat wave for this area.
More flooding rain here.
...and the smoky weather continues for the 3rd straight day...
Due to the terrain where the chips fire is located, it is very difficult for the fire fighters to make fire "breaks"...
....and the smoke funnels down to us, in Magalia/Paradise.

Hot and humid today, but with a light breeze, hazy sun. Beach weather. " To the beach!! "
Dark storms coming in, chance of strong winds, heavy rain. lightning, high winds and tornadoes.

Lots of tree branches and a few trees down. One tree fell over on a neighbor's car. A couple others knocked down powerlines and the roads are closed. I heard that the supermarket's roof collapsed.

My borther in law saw lightning strike a transformer today. Explosion, followed by sparks, loud electrical buzz, and a grass fire. It also knocked burning branches off a tree. He had to call 911.

I thought our 30C (88F) was warm for this part of the world, and then I read about that melted squirrel in Oklahoma. <smiley>
5th day of smoke, with no end in sight. The chips fire is zero percent contained.
Not so much, myself, as I have no respiratory "problems", but there are a lot of elderly in the area, and I have no idea how they "cope" with all the smoke.
It's supposed to be a bit cooler today in the Puget regions, after two days in the 90's. That's a relief. We're all feeling a bit sorry for ourselves, then I read what it's like pretty much everywhere else in the country and realize how easy we've got it.
