Now at 16 hours of more or less continuous thunder. I've never seen anything like it.

Wednesday and Thursday was over 100...dipped to the mid 90's today...
Hot for the last few days. I had a bad thought Saturday it usually this hot iand muggy in August which probably means August will be worse.
We're working on something like 15+ out of the last 20 days over 90, and we're so far down on rain it's pathetic. We're -8 inches for the year, -2+ for the summer...even the weeds in the front yard are burnt brown and not growing. Haven't mowed the lawn in almost two months -- nothing's growing, and if I mow it I'll kill it.
Just wish it could cool off in the evenings -- I've spent several nights asleep on the front porch 'cause the house just won't cool off (AC runs the power bill thru the roof). I've learned to be relatively comfortable tucking my 6'1" oversize frame onto a padded 4' or so bench...but at least there's a bit of a cool breeze.
Gonna be 100 hear today and tomorrow they say. No rain though we were supposed to get some. The river's drying up. Still, someone managed to get himself drowned recently. People forget that dams/weirs are turbulent.

Drought's killing off all the corn farms around here.

Glorious today, after a couple of spotty ones following the Donner und Blitzen, or however that's spelled. Good thing, too; I've got the landscapers here working on the yard.

The weather: Hot, with periods of warmth , chance of showers and T-storms, 92°,winds calm . The cat seems to be an inch longer,
stretched out on the kitchen floor,.....where he keeps himself handy. Yeah!![]()
Went camping over the weekend in the mtns. north of Ellensburg, WA. Had to leave a day late because of heavy rain/flash flood warnings in the mtns. Weather while I was there:
Cold, highs in the upper 50's. Windy, cloudy, rain, thunder, lightning. Not very good camping weather, and terrible for astronomy.
"Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening."
But only a few drops of rain, unfortunately. [sad face]

Sunny and warm here. I just checked 4 different local radars.
3 say it's been raining for a half hour here now, the other hasn't been updated for 2 hours.
Can't they even get the current weather right?
Finally a day that's not 100... it's 98. :-/

Mostly overcast, thundering, I can smell rain in the distance, temp probably 95 F. We need more rain.
cool and wet. The rain is over. Two rounds of storms got us 1.3+ inches. Woot!

T-storms blew through yesterday. Much cooler and drier today, wind 7kts, temp 82°F. Good golf day![]()
Well our clouds last evening simply floated west with a few rumbles of thunder and nothing more. :-(
It's mostly cloudy again currently. Temp mid-90s. Calm. No thunder.
Always unpredictable here. Can look like a rip-roaring storm IS going to happen, yet it fizzles. Or vice versa: Clouds look "so so" and an hour later it's boom-bam-crash/rain! ;-)
In the last month, we've had well over 21 days of 90+. Very little rain. We're down 8+" for the year.
We've had maybe 1/2" in the last week (or so the weather bureau says -- my front yard disagrees).
It's been spittin' and drizzlin' all day, even though there's been thunderboomers all around.
This summer is comin' off as a real scorcher...don't recall one like this for a long long time.
A couple of intense but very brief storms, bouts of rain and some hail.

Don't know whyyyy...there's no sun up in the skyyy...stormy weather!
After a warm muggy day yesterday, we've again had nocturnal lightning and thunder, accompanied by torrential rain and likely some hail. (I was too sleepy to get up and look.) I'm still hearing occasional distant thunder at almost 8:00 AM. It's pretty unusual for these parts.

Clouds teased us again yesterday afternoon/evening. :-( Began to certainly look as though a real storm was brewing and we'd get rain. But nope. The clouds fizzled and floated off to the west. Not even one peal of thunder. <_<
Currently spotty (sparse) white clouds. Warm, bright morning. There was red in the sky around dawn; hopefully that means rain today. Calm, temp probably 86 F.
Our former lawn now looks like the Kalahari. The ground is brown and cracked, I keep expecting a tumbleweed to blow by...

Lots of clouds again.
Floating around, teasing us. <_<
No doubt gloating, "The humans are watching again, wondering what we'll do!"
And likely will simply move on westward come 7:00 p.m. with no rain, nothing. Like last night and the night before.
Yeah, I think clouds can be cruel and enjoy playing mind games with humans. :-(
I used to feel like I was rubbing it in, now with the bad drought conditions everywhere (else), I almost feel guilty: Low 60's, rain today. Starting to clear up finally. Hopefully we get more than a few days of summer around here...
Cloudy today.
Nice photo of a rain shaft--perhaps enhanced a bit:

Rain shafts, scud can fool folks into thinking they are something worse. The brightness is a bit much--makes it look like a hail shaft.
Western Washingtonians: People who go to a family reunion, complain about all the rain we've had, and then spend the afternoon moving their lawn chairs around to stay in the shade! No such problem this morning, gray and a fine drizzle.

Crazy day here yesterday. It's been a miserably hot summer in the DC area overall, but yesterday it was cloudy and drizzly all day, and the high might have reached 72. I wore long pants and brought a jacket to go watch a soccer match - at the same stadium where a couple of weeks ago the high was 105.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.
Our 'summer' continues, with highs today expected to make it all the way to a sultry, balmy 65F. Clouds not expected to clear. Rain this AM.
We're under severe storm and tornado warning.

My sister who lives to the west of the city rushed home to make sure her dog is safe. And no, his name is not Toto.
90-odd degrees as of 845 peeyem (time of posting)...they been threatening rain of varying types for days now, but so far...zipzerozilch etc etc...I'd just like it to get down enough to cool the house at night. I'm getting tired of sleeping on the front porch and still sweating by the quart...
