Gratz to you all. I have to say that I'm a bit surprised by the number of new mods. After a very thinly veiled hint a month or so back I figured a new batch was on the way, but I was expecting three, maybe five.

This board really needs 8-10 active moderators in order to be monitored properly. With various explicit and implicit dropouts, we were down to about 4 or 5. This gets us back to a decent level with some room to spare.

I see thereīs only one mod in the Far East time zones [Kashi in Australia], and none in the India Time. If I were an admin Iīd be interested in filling the gaps. Just out of curiosity, what would be the basic criterion for the choice of mods [assuming itīs not secret]. Native Anglophony [well, thereīs Hendrik] or something?

I assume stability of mind and posting style--and if not native Anglophony, at least skill in the language would be helpful. I would think anyone with a regular habit of questionable posts would be right out.

Part of being a Moderator is Moderation.

The Mods actually lose expressive freedom by accepting that position- They need to set an example and try to NEVER screw up.

That's reasonably accurate, though if one's ethics are sound, being a mod shouldn't crimp their style (or contributions).

But I actually know what Mod Secret Lairs look like

I have the utmost confident our mods, new and old alike, will moderate fairly, and effectively!
