    a) A known planet
    b) a star
    c) potentially a satellite if it moved - but those don't really reflect red.

Depends on where she was located at, what direction she was facing, time, etc.

Maybe you can try to calm her with "If it were visible to the naked eye then amature astronomers all over the world would EASILY be tracking it and raising the alarm"

Arcturus? there's others, but without viewing details, it could be just about anything...that's the first naked eye red one that I thought of.

See BadAstronomy.com: The Planet X Saga: The Scientific Arguments in a Nutshell by our hero, Dr. Phil Plait.

    Executive summary:

Conclusion: Planet X has no physical effects, has never been seen, and therefore doesn't exist.
    Or: The Grand Conclusion

Planet X doesn't exist, and we are in no danger from a giant planet, rogue or otherwise. Lieder, Hazlewood and the rest of that group are wrong. They may be consciously lying, or have a tenuous grasp on reality, but in the end it doesn't matter: they are still wrong.
On the other hand, just to be fair, there is this irrefutable evidence from May 28, 2003, from the UCLA Mt.Wilson observatory tower webcam (real-time image showing whatever is there today) that shows an object that could only be Planet X, in an article in topic Someone help refute this?.

Ask here where in the sky it was. If it was in the east, it was probably Aldebaran.
