Spot on Jupiter

Hi all. I've been absent from the board for a while, but heard something interresting on Coast to Coast the other night(listen for entertainment only) and someone was on there(who's name has annoyingly just left me, it's the guy who had the pictures of the 'underground martian cities' of mars and was involved in some PX stuff) and he was talking about the spot on Jupiter and had some interresting theories about it. So, when I want to get the straight story about a spot on Jupiter I knew this would be the best place to come. What are the non-conspiracy theories on what it is?

That spot seems very much like some of the satalite photographs of volcanoes on earth.

My guess would be it's an upwelling of some kind of darker gas from within jupiter.
