    The Science Comedian

The Science Comedian was featured in the local newspaper a few days ago.

He is Brian Malow and his site is ScienceComedian.com.

    Testimonials

“Malow's jokes really are for everyone, not just scientists. In fact, because he often performs for audiences with mixed backgrounds in the sciences or no background in the sciences at all, he is happy to assume the role of an on-stage teacher, providing his audiences with just enough scientific background to get the joke.”

He links to the Bad Astronomy blog, so he can't be all bad.

I can't vouch for the quality. Never partaken. But, it just seems like the world needs more science comedians.

There was a Doug Sweetser, “The Stand Up Physicist” who had a couple of threads in the ATM section. He got into quaternions and a heated debate with papageno and Doug lost. As a bystander I felt I won because I learned a bunch. The main thing I learned was don’t mess papageno, he doesn’t just know, he understands what he is talking about.

You can see the thread here…

Anyway Doug has a bunch of videos on Youtube, an example is here…
There is a big difference in styles between Doug Sweetser and Brian Malow, but I think think both should be commended for taking tough subjects and making them a little more palatable.

Thanks for the mention here. I'll have to check out Doug Sweetser.

If you want to judge me, do it by this video:

Or, if you're in the SF Bay Area (I'm looking at you, 01101001), I'll probably be doing a couple more local shows in January.

    Thanks again for the post.

Not so much "stealing" them as "driving them off to enjoy their retirement in peace".

Welcome to the posting side of the wall.

    This sounds suspiciously like "rescuing"
