    Zombies invade earth!

Well, technically, the article states we all may already be zombies. So don't worry about your neighbor biting a chunk out of your brain (well, I guess depending on your neighbor, you may still have to worry about that).

Anyway, the article is pretty neat. It talks about different experiments which have been done over the past few decades, and describes some processes that one would think involve conscious though, but instead seem to be controlled (or at least aided) by our unconscious minds.

In 1988 a woman known as “patient D. F.” suffered carbon monoxide poisoning and lost the ability to recognize objects and shapes. Her eyes were still relaying information to her brain, but the connections between regions of her brain had been damaged so that she was no longer aware of what was before her. Scientists at the University of Western Ontario set a card on a table in front of D. F. and then held up a disk with a slot in it. They asked D. F. to hold the card at the same angle as the slot. She couldn’t. But when asked to put the card in the slot as if she were mailing a letter, she immediately — and unknowingly — turned the card to the correct angle and slipped it in.
I thought that was a particularly interesting case. But the article goes on to talk about the flip-side of things, and ends up back in a realm that I think is more in-line with most of our feelings on conscious v. subconscious thought. Basically the idea that sub-con. handles simple, repetitive information processing, freeing up the conscious for the more complex things.

Anyway, I like these kind of articles so I thought I'd post it here.

Actually, the actual fact is, you are all zombies except for me. Since the only consciousness I can prove is my own, therefore you must be all zombies.

.You can't PROVE anyone besides yourself is not a zombie. My claim is then a lie, but true for yourself, if you are not a zombie. However, I know I am not a zombie, and I can't prove anyone else isn't. However, I may be just saying that, when in fact you are the only not-zombie. I can't prove my non zombiehood to you, I can only know it. But I could be lying about knowing it.

Zombies invade Earth. That would explain the sales of Britney Spears recordings.

Right-- then Descartes was lying when he applied his proof to himself, because the premise of his proof that he exists is that he was conscious, and he did in fact claim that he knew he was conscious, so you must conclude that either he was indeed conscious and did in fact exist, or he was lying because he existed but wasn't conscious. Or he didn't exist at all, and you just invented all of history, which would make you insane.

Clearly we can codify a Theory of Zombie Relativity:
    1) Everyone Else is a Zombie relative to You
    2) Whether or not it matters is related to the inverse square of the distance between their teeth and your brain

My guess is that in the Schrodinger's Cat paradox the cat is both dead and not dead at the same time (until observed), sort of like a zombie is sort of dead and sort of not dead. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Do rocks think? My toe says they am.Or do rocks only am when we think about them? Or are we all thinking of rocks together? Or, or is Someone thinking about rocks, and that is why they am.
    I shrug.

    I can answer that!

Rocks only am in the presence of geologists; Toes always am whilst running naked in the universe of rocks.

I bieleve this to be "cosmic law"

On a personal note: I dont believe that zombies think about rocks or toes...ever.

I have it on good authority that zombies do think about brains.

    Fazor,
I liked the article. I often run on what I've called auto Pilot...but now I may have to re think that term.

you know those days after a long day at work....and you 'miss' about 10 miles of the drive home?

I would hope that conscious and the zombie work congruent, at least.

Actually, now that I think of it, there is proof that they do! I know of several people that talk constantly and still perform basic functions like walking, eating, breathing driving ...etc.

I'm not sure what the zombie is in control of, but it must be in there? right?

    A Fact!
Backed up by cinematic evidence in "Dawn of the Dead" "Day of the Dead" "Night of the Living Dead"

And verbal evidence with anything and everything ever said or uttered by Rob Zombie!

Hmmmmm, So they are not just 'Land Sharks'...They are actually gaining knowledge through osmosis?

Although I will question your choice of "proven" and "most"
any evidence or at least cinematic back up?
