    Vbulletin admin setting

Hey admins ... what do you have this setting set to:

    Update Thread Views Immediately

Please make sure this is set to false. This may be causing the issues you see with this board.

Was this worth it's own thread?

Besides, If you want to discuss it, shouldn't you have added why you think it would solve the problems, and exactly what problems those are?

I believe this is already set false, or at least has been in the past. I recall our discussing the behavior that would result from it being set to false (maybe without actually knowing the name for the setting). I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: See article in topic "views" count.

Indeed. And maybe you should have looked yourself to see what the feature setting was before suggesting what value it should have. Indications, from the thread I cited, are it wasn't hard to determine.

Why? Help will be appreciated. Here's how you can help: figure out if the setting has changed since its effect was last discussed. I don't have time to watch. See if Views counts are update continuously, in real time, or periodically, say every 30 or 60 minutes.

That will help. If counts are maintained in real time, then there's a problem.

    No?

I looked briefly between other tasks. I didn't obeserve long enough to figure out update frequency, but I did see View counts stay static over a many-minute period, indicating the setting is false, as you desired.

I watched for over an hour. The Views counts stayed static for at least 45 minutes, and after a sample at 79 minutes, had been updated.

Probably, the Views-count update frequency is 60 minutes.

I can't speak for... whoever..., but it appears that the setting is false.

It's probably as it should be, as dynamic updates with 575 active users, 94 of which are members, and thus potential posters, would slow down the board significantly.
