    Large Hadron Collider

One day to go! Can't wait... although they say it will be months or years till we hear any juicy results. So, to whet the appetite:

    Hey Damian,

How's tricks? Hope you're keeping well.

Been reading Smolin's Three Roads to Quantum Gravity - great read. Love this quote: "We are very used to imagining that we see a three dimensional world when we look around [but in reality] we do not see space [just information] - instead we are looking back through [a slice of] the history of the Universe".

    Trippy...

And - Go the boys and girls at CERN!

Soon I hope. They reckon Hawking has a $100 bet they won't find the Higgs, which is interesting. I really do hope its all a huge success so that they get funding to build the next one.

Right. I’m confident that the LHC will not destroy the Earth :-) However, for science fiction’s sake, what would happen if a blackhole was created and didn’t vaporise?! I mean, it would sink to the Earth’s centre devouring it from inside out, but, what would the whole scenario look like? I would like to see a good sci-fi article or book about this where the author gets their science facts right only ignoring Hawking’s Radiation obviously. What do you think folks; does anyone have an idea or know of such article/book?

It’s really exciting moments me thinks and it will definitely get better when the results from the LHC start coming out!
